“A few weeks ago I was commissioned by Wish Magazine to shoot a series of images of a truly iconic Sydney building – G.A. Zinc & Sons Tailors on Oxford St. in Darlinghurst. I remember first being impressed by the facade way back in the late 80’s when I was a bright eyed & bushy tailed teenager discovering Sydney’s treasures for the first time. It’s a time capsule to another era in Sydney when every bloke wore a suit, and remains to this day one of the closest experiences of Saville Row level tailoring you’ll get this side of the equator.

The interior is faithfully & lovingly maintained in all it’s original Art Deco glory. The father to son lineage continues with the baton now passing from Robert to Daniel Jones.

Sadly though, their future in this location is threatened. City of Sydney Council has sold the building and there is much uncertainty as to whether future development plans will allow for the shop to continue.”
