Photographer Nic Walker is now represented by Sam I Am Management.

Nic Walker first picked up a camera at the age of 23 after deciding that a career in marketing wasn’t for him. He studied commercial photography at Canberra Institute of Technology then moved to Sydney, where he landed a job in picture research at The Australian Financial Review. Before too long he was offered a job as a staff photographer, working his way up to taking cover story portraits for some of the most prominent political and cultural figures of our times.

His work features regularly in The Good Weekend Magazine, The Australian Financial Review, Wish Magazine and The Australian Magazine. During Walker’s decade with Fairfax Media he has won numerous awards including two Walkleys. His photographic subjects have ranged from prime ministers Bob Hawke, Paul Keating, Kevin Rudd, Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott, Malcolm Turnbull, to business people such as Australia’s Richest Bob Pratt, Frank Lowy and Harry Triguboff. Walker has also photographed many cultural figures including Marina Abramovic, Cate Blanchett, Melissa McCarthy and Willem Dafoe.

Prizes Include: National Portrait Prize finalist 2017, Nikon Walkley Portrait Prize 2015, Nikon Walkley Photo Essay Finalist 2015, Pampa Portrait Prize 2015, Kennedy Awards Portrait Prize 2015, Kennedy Award On-Line Essay 2015, Head On Portrait Finalist 2014, Pampa Finalist 2014, Capture Magazine Top 10 Portrait Photographers 2014, Walkley Award Winner for Daily Life (2012), Walkley Slide Night Winner (2011). Nic was part of the initial Elizabeth St Gallery Coordinated production, and judged for the inaugural Elizabeth Street Gallery Project.
