Paul Barbera is an international lifestyle and interiors photographer and director whose distinct style flows seamlessly between stills and motion. His work is reportage in style, and employs a minimalist approach; he shoots in natural light and avoids complicated technical arrangements to capture complex emotional honesty in his subjects, ranging from cultural anthropology to luxury living. His approach allows an authenticity and voyeuristic thrill to emerge in his images.
With an adaptable yet distinct visual approach, his assignments regularly take him around the globe, working with publications like Elle Décor, Vogue Living, Surface Magazine Frame and Mr. Porter. His clients include Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Starbucks, Dedon and Bugaboo. He has been featured in Another Magazine, Architectural Digest, Hypebeast, T: The New York Times Magazine, High Snobiety, The Paris Review and Forbes.
His previous book release, Where They Create, is a visual documentation of the creative environments of artists & creatives that he meets during his travels for assignments, which is based on his blog of the same name and is available globally. His second book in the series, Where They Create Japan was released in 2016/17. Both were published by FRAME. His third book in the series, is currently in production and will be focussing on Australian creatives.
Paul is based in New York, and travels to Australia often on commission.
